Type II Tray Recorder Independent Power Supply (RIPS)

Product overview

Back-up power is essential for all flight operations, but none more critical than protecting flight data for routine or emergency evaluations. And like its flange-mounted relative, the L3Harris Type II Tray Recorder Independent Power Supply (RIPS) is designed to provide critical back-up battery power for Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVRs). RIPS provides 10 minutes of independent back-up power in accordance with FAA requirements when standard aircraft power is interrupted or lost.

  • Fits in the original ½-ATR envelop when used with the FA2100 CVR
  • Uses nickel cadmium (NiCad) battery technology and batteries do not require recharge time to repeat a back-up operation
  • Features Built-in Test Equipment (BITE) and requires no aircraft wiring changes

Key Features

Keep costs down

The Type II Tray RIPS is a cost-effective solution for operators who need back-up power without breaking the budget. Installation requires no wiring changes to the aircraft, advanced battery management ensures long battery life, and with a 20 W minimum output capability, it has the power to keep the FA2100 CVR operating in the event of a problem.

All RIPS meet back-up power requirements

RIPS is available in the L3Harris-patented Type II Tray configuration and Type III Flange-Mount configuration. Both configurations meet the performance requirements of ARINC 777 and are compliant with TSO-C155.
